Spring sale recap

We had the most perfect weather on Saturday - and I woke up so grateful to be doing what I do. Grateful for the patience of my family who allows me the time to do this and do it right. Grateful for the support and encouragement of family near and far, good friends, and complete strangers who have stumbled across my business and given the kindest compliments. Grateful for not just the emotional encouragement from my husband but the use of his handy skills. And let me tell ya, he's got mad skills. And so grateful that my loving Father has blessed this business beyond measure and allowed it to prosper over my family.

It's all too much, sometimes. I feel so incredibly blessed.

So Saturday! I opened our garage door on a beautiful Spring day to show and sell the pieces I've been working on over the last few months. It took a while to accumulate the stock I had as working through the winter tends to be slower. Aside from the fact that I lose feeling in my hands after about an hour and a half in a freezing garage, the paint doesn't agree much with the cold weather either and gets goopy. But, I finally had enough pieces for our little garage to handle and set a sale date!

Here are some photos of the day!

I always offer refreshments. I want people to feel right at home when they step inside.:)

I didn't have my lights on during the before sale pics, so I got a quick photo in between customers. The big white lantern was an Ikea accessory that I found at Goodwill! It lit everything up perfectly!

A nod to Derby day

It was a wonderful day. I said goodbye to a few pieces, hello to some good friends, and met a lot of new ones! There are custom orders lined up and appointments scheduled to view the remaining stock of pieces. If  you are local and didn't make the sale please contact me and I can send photos of the remaining pieces. Or check back in soon because I am working on filling my Etsy shop with the remaining pieces and will post the link here on the blog once that's ready.

Thanks for reading!

Spring sale, all set up!

First thing's first...Happy Friday! Can I get an amen?!

Almost 100% set up for the Chelsea's Garage Spring sale tomorrow! My very awesome husband has the exciting task of hanging a rather large mirror. After it's up, we're ready! Here are some shots I got early in the morning.

I'll be sitting back in this little corner of our garage from 10am-2pm tomorrow, (Saturday, May 4), sipping coffee, enjoying some tunes, and greeting the kind folks who make the trip out to visit!

Imagination to reality

We are days away from the May 4 sale and just last night Matt and I cleared out all the toys and some lawn equipment from the garage so I can begin setting up the space as a showroom. As I uncovered finished pieces that have been hiding under the protection of sheets and plastic, I looked around at the products of my labor and just felt incredible.

First peek of this 7-drawer dresser in a custom mixed soft green, homemade leather drawer pulls from an old belt

Completing any task these days feels like an accomplishment. My three dear young ones, (3, 3, and 2), are on my heels all day, except when they are asleep. I tried to sneak in a shower recently while they seemed occupied watching Doc McStuffins, only to see all three of their faces as they pulled the shower curtain aside, holding a plastic teapot in front of me, asking if we could have a tea party. In the shower.

Being patient during yet another run to Home Depot, (with a stop to the playground promised afterward)

This attention intensive phase of life is a true adventure, to say the least. Creating in our garage is less about having an outlet from all things 'Mommy', and more about the desire to simply be creative. Our home is filled with 3 very wild imaginations. In the transition from kid to adult I'd forgotten how much fun it is to imagine and use the creative part of my brain. I am so grateful to have these precious kids reminding me how to imagine. Each piece of furniture that I makeover is a physical extension of me and my imagination.

My vision of what the ordinary tv tray table could be

My style is rustic

with a bit of sparkle.

Unique,

and detailed.

I believe that small pieces have as much impact as large.

And that not everyone wants to fill their home with white, cream, and grey;

-though I use a lot of those, too, (and they never get old)

I can see myself in each piece - my imagination, style and work. And it just makes sense.

*Which is refreshing, because sometimes toddlers are quite hard to understand! :)
